The Project: The Development of a Grant Proposal for USD 250,000 Grant Financing from United States African Development Foundation (USADF) for a Maize Sector Project.
Project Objectives:
1 To develop a Value Addition Facility (Maize Milling Plant with the capacity of 1,200 Kg/Hour) with the application of modern equipment and cleaner production philosophy including a standardized licensed & certified storage (3,000 tons capacity warehouse) & professional handling facilities & services, using warehouse receipting system.
2 To develop the supply chain including Farmer Producer Organizations development to be able to deliver the right quantity of supplies in the right quality promptly, consistently and sustainably.
3 Business Development Services: market development & access, access to finances & agricultural production inputs & services, institutional development including managerial & leadership development.
Project Activities: The Proposal development involved the analysis & description of:
ORGANIZATION INFORMATION, legal status and establishment, the mission or purpose, the most significant achievements, revenue generation, the primary commodity or product, ownership & governance structures
CURRENT FINANCIAL SITUATION: existing & prospective loans, grants or donor, government& other outside funding, sustainability strategies & existence of a trained accountant audited financial statements
PROJECT PROPOSAL INFORMATION The market opportunity, how the grant will allow the enterprise to increase sales revenues and improve incomes, the primary activities that must be completed to increase revenues and/or improve farmer incomes, the biggest risk facing the enterprise and the success of the project, the impact of the project, innovative approaches to be introduced to agricultural and economic development
GRANT BUDGET Estimate Estimation of the project budget needed for the project to be successful, the organization contribution to the project, other organizations that will provide technical support for the project
